cleaning house

this weekend was "get organized" weekend.
really this picture does not do it justice at all. I can't say that i got completely organized, but it was a very good start.

my mom and i spent all saturday going through tons of boxes and bins in the garage that have been waiting to be thrown or given away for years. i went through things like cards from every birthday since i was 13, to notes i passed in high school biology, to letters i got from elementary school friends when i moved to ga 12 years ago. i know, i have a problem letting go. but it helped to be in a mood that was ready to throw it all out.

i must say though, it was entertaining and quite the walk down memory lane.

above is the snow globe i got on valentines day from my "boyfriend" in 5th grade. i took a picture so i could have the memory before it was slammed dunked in the trash can. i am not heartless. just making room for other things :)

this pic is for you alissa--it is the cover of the book that i covered in marbled oil paints in 2nd grade. inside is a story about a mouse named samantha...i don't know, don't ask. anyway, that's where my idea about marbling in nepal came from :)

today was a little bit of paper work and other stuff to get out of the way before school starts tomorrow!! i have my first 2 classes...i can't believe i am going back. i don't really think it is real to me yet. i guess just wait until the reading hits, right?

so, not the most exciting weekend, but necessary. cleaning house is good. is freeing to get rid of old things and makes room for something new and fresh.
i hope that is what this year is for me.

How come your book cover is so much cooler than the ones we made?! ...i think I once wrote a story about a mouse named Samantha too...in elementary school...seriously....maybe we really ARE the same person...???
