Sorry it has been a while, life has been full of lots of change around here. I am living in a new flat as of last week and we finally got internet today!
having my mom here was great. we got to do so much, including a 3 day trek! trek and village life is so different from life in the city, so to be able to do this, even for a few days was a great experience. we certainly had our fill of rivers, up and down, large insects, and spicy nepali food so she could know what trek is like for us :)
she was great though--always the nepali people were impressed and surprised to see her out there hiking and doing whatever she could to entertain the people. there are times when we would sit in a family's house while waiting for dinner and a crowd of kids came to stare. true to herself, she was ready to entertain and keep active--she serenaded them with ol' mcdonald and taught them hop-scotch too. she was great!

we also had the grand opporunity to take a once in a life time flight to see Mount Everest and all the himals surrounding the area. The air is pretty foggy these days as the dry season ends so it is very rare to see any mountains. Once we were up and out of Kathmandu though, the view was breath taking. We got to see the best of Nepal's mountains, including Everest, pictured in the middle below. My mom kept saying that the the experience was kind of like taking one lick of ice cream--seeing such beauty made you want to sit and just take in the view for days and days. We had a great time.
yet now she has returned to America and I am faced with just 2 1/2 weeks left in Nepal. i am feeling torn about this and to be honest this week has been a difficult one. please pray for me as I am in the midst of making some big decisions...that the Lord would make his will absolutely clear. much love to you!
