From Ceasarea we headed to Nazareth to stay in the Old City for a few days and explore the surrounding areas. We stayed at this inn made from a house from 18th century that was rather an adventure to get to called the Fauzi Azar Inn. It had so much character!
The little door we had to lug our luggage through--it was quite funny :) All the doors are like this in the old city--the little one was for people, big part for animals. Fact: the little door was called the "Eye of the Needle," which totally brought new light to Jesus words!

On of our days we got to visit some of the beautiful hills in the surrounding area. This was from the Mt. of Precipice, which is where the people brought Jesus to try and throw him off the cliff, according to tradition. Mt. Tabor (which we also visited that day) is in the distance on the left, where the prophetess Deborah and Barak defeated their enemies from Judges. It was quite a view!
We also got to visit the ruins at Tel Megiddo, that has remains from civilizations from up to 4000 BC. Below is from the city gates built by Solomon...

Aside from being a very old city, Megiddo is also known as the location of Armageddon...so that's the valley it's all supposed to go down...
There were many more things from Nazareth, but these were some of the highlights. It was neat to be in the town of Jesus and imagine what it would have looked like when it was smaller and much more simple. There were a few roads we walked on that are likely the same roads that would have been during the time of Jesus. Since their are 7 layers of the city, you have to dig down to see these things...we quickly discovered that's how this whole country is!!
