catch up!

I am slipping again, aren't i?! ok well then get ready for a catch-up post!

this weekend was another of those long class intensives. we had 2 days of understanding the effects of trauma in the context of development. it's been a great class so far--really interesting and accessible info, but like anything, 2 full days of sitting can get to you! so yesterday i went with my parents to enjoy "wings over atlanta," an air show with a bunch of different planes doing crazy things, including the US Navy's Blue Angels.
it was a PERFECT day--80 degrees, clear blue sky, sun shining (though shining enough for one to get a bit crispy). there were tons of different fighter jets and old planes to check out, including this HUGE military cargo plane, big enough to carry an 18 wheeler. it is amazing that thing could ever get off the ground!

since my grandpa was the president of an airplane engine company, my dad knew about what all the different planes were. we even found an old one that had his company's emblem on it, showing it had a Pratt & Whitney engine.

it was a fun day, despite the other 120,000 people that were there. it was pretty amazing to think that we have the minds and ability to come up with so many ways to defy gravity at such amazing speed and precision. some of the planes were literally flying 18 inches apart at several hundred miles/hr!
so as much as i have been slipping in posting, it has been a busy month! maria had family visit last month and we go to go to a braves game...though her dad wore a phillies shirt (which i will not comment on further since i will just get told that the phillies are in and the braves are out)

maria and i continue to cook once a week for my parents and we've been trying to keep in different and interesting...i think this week we tried a bacon wrapped meat loaf and cheesy grits..mmm they were good :)

our season of indoor soccer wrapped up and we didn't make it to the tournament, but we managed to win 2 games!! it was great fun to play, definitely a good outlet for exercise and hanging out with some fun people. there are a few of us below...

so that's not all of this past month, but a few highlights! hope you are enjoying this fall weather, or at least the fall season even if it is hot where you are ;) things are busy, but there is so much to enjoy too! hopefully soon i shall post about being at Berry...until then, much love!
