signs of spring

spring is peaking out here and there...oh how it is teasing me! i am ready for sunny 70s every day but a rain shower here and 60 degree weather there--it is just not quite enjoyable yet. flip flops--i am coming, you have debuted a few times, but we'll have to wait another week or two before we can be fully reunited. judah seems to be enjoying the warmer weather too... :)

blogging has not been incredibly better, has it? i have tried, i promise! i created a few posts and alas, they were deleted when i tried to post them. this is a bit disheartening when you are trying to turn over a new leaf! but in the spirit of spring, i shall have to persevere and try again. this is first weekend i have had at home in what feels like a while. after being gone in haiti and then work and busy things last weekend, it has felt like go-go-go for a while! it has been really good to be quiet, get some school work done, and just have a mix of down time, family time, Jesus time and productive time. it is amazing how stillness is restorative to me. why is this such a hard thing sometimes? stillness truly is a discipline of the mind and heart.

for now, the showers and coming flowers are a beautiful reminder that things are always changing, growing, evolving...that no matter what things look like now, it will all work out because my trust is in the Lord. it's not going to be easy all the time--growth and change can be uncertain and painful. but i am so glad we serve a God that actually cares about the little things that burden our hearts. nothing is too insignificant to him. WOW. what a thought. i have been encouraged this week by this thought, and by the promise of 1 john 3:

For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything...
