maria and i went to see our friend and former housemate bethany get married. brian and bethany so obviously have seen the Lord bring them together over the last 2 years and it was a blessing to share that joy with her! we also saw a few Asbury folks which was fun...and now they have moved close by so Bethany can attend the same counseling program i am in! kinda crazy how these things work out...
4th of July was spent near Marietta Square watching fireworks (sort of) and enjoying live music with some friends from church...the music was great but the fireworks were a bit hidden. that's ok though, it was about enjoying the people and making memories...
next day was james' 21st bday! we had some people over from church and had some good food, games and hang out. i can't believe he is 21!
then, of course, there was the end of the summer naples trip. it was so nice to be done with summer school and have some rest and relaxation! the family was all together again and maria came too! It rained a bit at first so we played lots of hand and foot (the best card game ever! thanks matt and stace!), frisbee, and a little tennis in between lounging once it got nice again. i feel like i always post pics from there, but how can i not enjoy such a beautiful place??
mom and dad also celebrated 30 years of marriage while we were there! i am so BLESSED to have parents who have been lovingly committed to each other for so long and who continue to be such an example to me of what a Godly marriage looks like!
looking forward to making some fall memories too amidst loads of reading and school work. i am learning a lot even as i try to be more disciplined in getting things done and making good use of my time. it is hard to say no to fun things in the name of school work! i look forward to the day when my time and attention might not be so divided...if that will ever truly happen. but maybe this is good practice for whatever the future holds...
