back to it

today i am enjoying a nice day at home with nothing on the schedule but doing homework in my pjs. i'll probably break to work out, but besides that, i am grateful for an off day. after today i will be working 10 days straight at ridgeview due to picking up extra shifts, having to go in to make up some training i missed a few months ago, and switching schedules with another worker. i guess i hadn't realized it will be that much until now. whew!

I have already finished week 2 of classes, including an intensive class this past weekend. so far i have made a rather slow start on reading, but i am ready to get on the ball. i really enjoyed my class this weekend with Dr. Gary Collins, who is basically like the father of Christian counseling. He was such a joyful, energetic 74 year old man, full of inspirational encouragement that each of us find what we are made for and go for it! it was really a blessing to sit under him and hear how the field has developed with him as a forerunner.

of course with lots of work + classes, wise time management is of the essence. i am really seeking to make time with the Lord priority as well, especially with so much time at work--i must be filled in order to have anything to pour out. otherwise, trying to always be the positive presence in the lives of patients can be draining when so often it is an uphill battle to support and walk with them. i am so thankful i don't have to "be" everything or do it on my own!

so it seems that i am back to life, back to forming some stucture and schedule...and praying to see the Lord move in and through me in the midst of the ordinary.
